"Based on the vibrant true story of a young girl, chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi.  In the slums of Katwe, Uganda where she is forced to abandon her schooling at the age of nine, Phiona is introduced to the game of chess at a youth-outreach program.  A result of the support she receives from her family and community, Phiona is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion."
